Maintenance

It's my belief that boating should be a fun experience! Most of the time you hear about boaters that hate their boats because they always break at the wrong times! I've had my fair share of this in the past on my first few boats!  I go overboard on this with all my stuff. I don't get to use it very much so when I do use it, It better work! Here's the details by item of what I do for maintenance. Most of this is done as needed or at least once a year.

   Boat
  • When it's in the slip, it's cleaned every week. Inside and out. Once a month they do the bilge
  • It's always up on the lift so you don't have to worry about the bottom
  • Motors / Drives have synthetic oil in them. I change it once a year
  • Motors don't use a drop. Drives are suppose to and do
  • Each Spring, Baker Engineering goes through the motors and replaces what's needed. They are brand new. Nothing to replace yet!
  • Completely winterized every year
  • Kept in heated storage every year
  • Drives painted as needed
  • Props polished and cupped every year

   Truck
  • Having only 28K or so miles on it, it has not needed much
  • Everything has been done as required by the schedule in the manual
  • I have all the records

   Trailer
  • Brakes replace or adjusted every year
  • Oil checked on bearing before every trip
  • Tire pressure check before every trip
  • Lights all work
  • Blasted then primed and paint 2 years ago
  • Touched up every year by SD Enterprises

   Lift
  • Just clean it once a year with High Pressure washer. That's it.

That's it. Simple. Just make sure you do it every year!
